Andrew has been involved in the field of renewable energy and climate change in Australia for several years. He has experience in timber afforestation projects, the sale of carbon credits, low emissions technology demonstration funds schemes and mitigation of carbon risk. He has also advised on geosequestration activities and trading renewable energy certificates.

Andrew is experienced in advising on anti-competitive behaviour risks and mitigation, particularly in the mining, energy and resources sector. He also has experience with economically regulated markets such as gas and electricity.

Andrew can assist with the negotiations strategy for key corporate and commercial contracts, including implementing stages of the negotiation through key term sheets, letters of intent, heads of agreement and final detailed documentation.

Andrew can provide support to directors and senior management across all industry sectors on major strategic transactions as well as on their day-to-day directors and officers duties. He not only understands the corporate legal framework in their local jurisdictions but also brings an international perspective that accommodates the increasingly common cross-border nature of global business today.

Andrew has advised clients in electricity generation and transmission including drafting/redrafting of contacts, commercial agreements and supply arrangements. He has represented local and foreign developers, utilities, financial investors and regulators on numerous projects and transactions involving the acquisition, development, financing and divestment of electric generation and transmission assets across Australia, and advised participants in Australia's developing energy trading and derivatives markets.

Andrew has been involved in many infrastructure projects in the mining and resources as well as the oil and gas Industry sectors. He has advised Australian and international clients on matters relating to rail, ports and bulk handling facilities, including their financing, construction and operations and maintenance.

Andrew has particular experience in advising Japanese and Chinese clients on corporate, commercial and mining, energy and resources matters. In particular, this expertise includes Japanese and Chinese resources groups investing in Australia and internationally in the energy and resources sectors.

Andrew has advised national and international clients on a wide range of mergers and acquisitions including buy/sell deals, mergers, exchanges, takeovers and corporatisation's. He develops negotiated legal solutions for clients by customising or devising new approaches or techniques, and efficient acquisition structures.

Andrew has been involved in a number of significant mining and resources transactions and projects in Australia and internationally. His experience covers iron ore, coal, base metals, uranium and specialty metals. He has also been involved in numerous acquisitions and takeovers within this sector.

Andrew advises multinational and Australian companies exploring for and developing oil and gas (including LNG) prospects. His expertise includes:

• Supply and off-take agreements and associated transportation arrangements;
• All aspects of exploration and production activities, including environmental and native title approvals;
• Sale, acquisition and financing of infrastructure and assets
• Competition and regulatory issues
• LNG supply and transportation arrangements when dealing with joint ventures and greenfield projects, particularly in supplying to Japan and China.

He has worked on significant oil and gas transactions and projects in Australia and internationally.

Andrew has experience with charterparties and shipping contracts, particularly for bulk commodities and with contracts of carriage by rail.

Andrew is actively involved in major water and waste water projects that require legal solutions from advisers with industry expertise. His experience includes long term bulk water supply, alliance contracting, acquisitions and access arrangements.
