A Special Counsel in our Canberra office, Geoff Shelley combines a background in engineering with extensive experience in a wide range of specialist legal roles.
With more than 15 years in practice, he brings strong project management skills to his public and private sector advisory spanning outsourcing, procurement, intellectual property and complex technology projects, as well as commercial and cross-border transactions, corporate governance and compliance issues.
Geoff has particular expertise in telecommunications and Defence matters, including legal and probity issues for major Defence capital acquisition and sustainment programs. He is thoroughly familiar with government procurement policies.
He also advises major corporates on diverse commercial transactions, major acquisitions and operational restructuring arrangements.
Some clients include the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Department of Defence, the Australian Taxation Office, Optus, and Qantas.
Geoff brings valuable in-house experience to his role with the firm as a former acting Special Counsel to the CEO of the Defence Materiel Organisation and General Counsel for a major South-East Asian telecommunications company.
