Australian businesses prepare for the new privacy regime
Shelley is a Special Counsel in the firm’s insurance and corporate risk group. She specialises in workers compensation and accident compensation law.
Prior to joining Minter Ellison, Shelley was a member of WorkSafe Victoria’s senior management team, and she continues to advise WorkSafe, and its authorised agents, in relation to all aspects of personal injury litigation under the Victorian Accident Compensation Act.
Shelley regularly conducts personal injury litigation matters in the Supreme and County Courts, and has a particular interest in product and occupiers liability. She also manages a specialist portfolio relating to psychiatric injury claims, specifically those arising from bullying and harassment.
Shelley has been closely involved in the development of government policy related to compensation legislation and litigation. As a result she has a detailed understanding of the legal framework in this area and is well placed to provide strategic advice to government and corporate clients.
Shelley is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, Australian Insurance Law Association and Women in Insurance.

Shelley has a detailed understanding of accident compensation matters. She conducts litigation under the Accident Compensation Act on behalf of employers, Worksafe Victoria and its authorised agents.
Shelley has provided strategic oversight of Worksafe’s portfolio of litigated disputes and assisted in the development of systems to manage litigation conducted on behalf of Worksafe, including terms of engagement for experts, counsel and medical practitioners, legal costs agreements, and political and media sensitive issues management.
Shelley handles all types of employers’ liability claims on behalf of large and small employers in a diverse range of industries. She advises on the legal issues associated with employment-related psychiatric injuries, including those arising from workplace bullying and harassment.
Shelley has extensive experience in the development of workers compensation and accident compensation policy and legislation. As an international ambassador for Worksafe, Shelley participated in a research tour of Statutory Compensation and OHS organisations in North America and Canada. She has advised the Victorian Department of Justice and participated in the implementation of amendments to the legislative framework.
