We also provide you with additional study leave to help you maintain balance in your life at such a busy time.

Melbourne

Each Graduate undertakes a 34 week Practical Legal Training (PLT) Course which will enable you to apply for admission to practise. The PLT is provided by the College of Law and delivered to Minter Ellison graduates as an in-house prgram.  We cover the cost of this course and make all necessary arrangements for your enrolment and subsequent application to the Court to be admitted. We also provide you with additional study leave to assist you in maintaining balance in your life at such a busy time.

Perth

You are required to take a 12 month Articles of Clerkship, where you are articled to a partner in the firm to supervise your work. The Perth graduate program allows you the opportunity to complete up to four, six month rotations with our various practice groups, with your first rotation being with your articled partner. During your articles year, you will join our Articles Training Program (ATP) which is a course administered and conducted by the Legal Practice Board. This course is held over a four week period and is designed to work in conjunction with your workplace experience and enable clerks to satisfy the National Competency Standards for the admission of an entry level lawyer. We cover the cost of this course and make all necessary arrangements for your subsequent application to the Court to be admitted.

Adelaide

Although our Adelaide office does not have a formal graduate program, we do hire Graduate Law Clerks who work with us while completing their mandatory placement of 225 hours in Practical Legal Training (PLT). You are usually placed in a 'Clerk Pool' so that anybody in the firm who requires your assistance can utilise your services across the firm. To meet PLT requirements, you are also provided with at least one (usually two) supervisor/s with five or more years of legal experience. Following the successful completion of your PLT placement, some of our outstanding graduate law clerks are offered permanent or contract positions with the firm. Admission and announcement costs are then reimbursed to graduate law clerks who have secured a permanent role at the time of admission.
