In the pursuit to find remedies to some of the world's challenges, International Research Collaborations (IRCs) are fast becoming a popular vehicle to develop and commercialise innovative solutions.
According to Paul McGinness, leader of Minter Ellison's innovation stream, "If we look at the dilemmas facing the world today, for example, in the areas of health, climate change, security, technology and space, the answers require borderless solutions - bringing together the best minds to solve the problems."
"However, whilst IRCs are often addressing global borderless dilemmas, the legal frameworks for IRCs are not borderless."
Learn more about establishing an IRC and managing the risks of these ventures in Minter Ellison's publication: Optimising the Collaborative Advantage.
Optimising the Collaborative Advantage is a legal issues guide that highlights the challenges that IRCs face as they push the development boundaries. The guide includes a special focus on the health, defence & security, energy & resources, information technology, communication and astronomy industry sectors.
