Biography

Peter was immediate past Chairman of Minter Ellison from 2003-2006.

Peter led the discussions on behalf of one of the three firms that amalgamated in 1987, to form Minter Ellison. He served on the Minter Ellison board for nearly 20 years. In that time the firm saw unparalleled growth.

Peter has extensive experience in the Media and Communications area and in the area of complex business litigation where there is corporate risk.

Peter is recognised for his expertise in broadcasting and media in Best Lawyers International (2009), and listed in the Chambers Global 'The Worlds Leading Lawyers for Business' (2009) and the Asia Pacific Legal 500 'The Guide to Asia's Commercial Law Firms' (2009) as a leading individual for TMT and media.

Peter is:

  • Chairman of the Business Law Section of LAWASIA and co-chair of its Communications and Technology Committee
  • Vice President of Australian Services Roundtable
  • on the Legal Practice Board of the International Bar Association and Coordinator of the Intellectual Property, Communications and Technology section of the IBA and immediate past chair of the Media Committee of IBA
  • Vice President of Melbourne Press Club. 

Peter is active in the community having served on the State Sport Centres Trust from 1999 – 2003 and the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre Trust from 1995 – 2003. He is on the Judiciary Committee of Swimming Australia, the Grievance Officer Victorian Swimming, Vice President Barwon Heads Golf Club and a member of the Australian Olympic Committee National Federation Appeals Tribunal.
