Biography

Margaret is a partner in the competition and intellectual property group in Brisbane, and leads the firm's telecommunications and biotechnology practice there.

She has had major involvement in the post-Hilmer Reforms for government-owned corporations. Specifically, she was retained by the Micro-Economic Reform Working Group formed by Federal Treasury to advise State instrumentalities on the implications of the Hilmer Reforms.

In addition, she has played a major role in competition law litigation in both the Competition Tribunal and the Federal Court specifically acting for Duke Energy International.
Margaret has advised on major transactions involving national gas pipelines, rail infrastructure, electricity transmission and distribution networks and port facilities.

Margaret has particular expertise in major Australian intellectual property projects and commercialisation issues in the resources sector, the creative industries and the bioscience industries. She has advised research institutes, universities, investors and project participants on commercial and intellectual property issues.

In her telecommunications and biotechnology practice, Margaret advises telecommunications carriers, government and universities. She has more than 10 years' experience as a director, audit committee member and information technology committee chairperson of a number of financial services sector organisations.

Margaret has been appointed an Adjunct Professor in the School of Law at the University of Queensland.
