Biography

Under Nigel McBride's leadership as Managing Partner, the Adelaide office of Minter Ellison has grown in a few short years to be South Australia's largest law firm with a leading reputation and dominant market position. He also lead the firm to being awarded the "Best Professional Services Firm in South Australia" in the inaugural BRW-St Georges Client Choice Awards in 2005 and then "back to back" with the same award in 2006. This led to the launch of a Darwin office which has also grown rapidly.

Nigel created a strategy of innovation which has lead to the creation of the firm's own technology company - liift pty ltd - the success of which lead to the following national awards: 2008 CMS Innovation Award for Legal IT and 2009 ALB Australian Law Award for Innovative Use of Technology.

Following a Talent2 Australian survey of more than 1300 respondents, its General Manager named Nigel as one of the "bosses that appealed most to employees" in South Australia. The article listed similar responses to other business leaders in other states including Gail Kelly and Gerry Harvey.

Nigel is also Chairman of Advantage SA, an organisation supported by the South Australian government, media and the South Australian corporate sector. Advantage SA promotes investment into the state and showcases the state's business capability and positive economic future.

Nigel often provides input to other Chief Executives on the key strategic and operational issues affecting their businesses. This reflects his own management experience as well as his years of practise advising private and public sector clients in relation to corporate governance and leadership, regulatory and human resources challenges, contractual issues and common law duties."
