Biography
Under Nigel McBride's leadership as Chief Executive Partner, the Adelaide office has grown in a few short years to be South Australia's largest law firm with a leading reputation and dominant market position. The success of the Adelaide practice has led to opening a dedicated Darwin office after many years experience of servicing client needs in the Territory either remotely or through a local agent.
Nigel often provides input to other Chief Executives on the key strategic and operational issues affecting their businesses. This reflects his own management experience as well as his years of practise advising private and public sector clients in relation to corporate governance and leadership, regulatory and human resources challenges, contractual issues and common law duties.
Nigel is unusual as a lawyer in the sense that he has had significant experience in operational management. For example, as former Director of Legal Administration for the Health Department of Western Australia, he was in the Department's senior management team as well as managing the provision of legal and legislative services for a $A1.6b industry. He has also advised a range of government agencies for well over a decade and has first-hand knowledge of the statutory, legal, policy and logistical issues surrounding the public sector and its statutory entities. He has what we believe to be a unique practice in public sector risk management, having undertaken comprehensive risk assessments with a number of statutory corporations and public sector agencies.
Nigel is an author and sought after speaker on risk assessment and treatment strategies.
He divides his time between the Adelaide and Darwin offices.
