Biography
John is the Managing Partner of Minter Ellison on the Gold Coast.
He has unique expertise in the tourism industry, having been a director of key industry corporations. John’s appointments include:
- Director and Compliance Committee Member, Seaworld Limited
- Chairman, Regional Council of Commerce Queensland (Gold Coast)
- Director, Commerce Queensland (Queensland Chamber of Commerce & Industry)
- Chairman, Event Advisory Board, Lexmark Indy 300
- Chairman, Regional Economic Development Advisory Board, Gold Coast City Council
- Queensland Convenor, Tourism Task Force.
John has also acted as a director of some of Queensland’s largest companies including Energex Retail and the Queensland Transmissions Supply Corporation, and has until recently been a member of Queensland’s Liquor Appeals Tribunal.
In January 2005, John was named Gold Coast Citizen of the Year. He was also honoured with the 2002 Gold Coast Tourism Award, the City’s highest community and government accolade for contribution to the tourism industry and development of the Gold Coast as Australia’s tourism capital.
John’s distinctive understanding of commercial, operational and strategic issues is applied with the specialist legal skills of a team of lawyers to advise key corporate clients and assist in the delivery of practical legal solutions.
This unique approach often sees John and his team working closely with clients as part of their management team.
