Biography
Steven has extensive experience advising on construction issues and dispute resolution in Hong Kong and the Asian region.
He first qualified as a solicitor in Australia and then moved to Hong Kong, where he was admitted in 1998. Before joining Minter Ellison, he worked for a number of years in the Hong Kong construction group of a major UK law firm with a strong construction practice and a particular emphasis on handling construction disputes involving government and public sector works.
Steven has handled a number of major arbitration and litigation proceedings involving the construction of building works. For the past couple of years, he has been involved in court proceedings for the Hong Kong Government arising from the construction of ferry piers and a potential development in Central, Hong Kong. He has handled a number of mediations and has been instrumental in settling a number of major civil engineering and building disputes. He has also been assisting a number of foreign clients in major projects in China as well as Chinese contractors working outside China.
Steven is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch) and the current secretary of the construction sub-committee of the Hong Kong Mediation Council.
