  • 82 new senior appointments
  • 8 new Partners announced
  • 57% female promotions group
  • New Partners represent strong performance of disputes, transactions, technology, foreign investment and finance
  • Promotions reflect the Firm's ongoing commitment to investing for future growth and industry focus

The appointments, across MinterEllison's legal and consulting practices, bolster the Firm's market-leading capabilities in its key areas of practice and focus industries.

Announcing the news MinterEllison Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner, Virginia Briggs said:

"Our new Partners are from areas of the business that have shown strong performance in the last 12 months: in particular, disputes, transactions, technology, foreign investment and finance. More broadly, our promotions group as a whole is diverse and reflects our confidence in future growth across all parts of our legal and consulting businesses."

Briggs said the overall cohort's industry and commercial awareness will help MinterEllison achieve its ambition to be a recognised leader across its chosen industries and markets.

"Our market-facing activities are strongly industry oriented, reflecting client demand for diverse services and skillsets that pair legal and consulting expertise with market insight and corporate nous. This group's deep expertise across a range of industries, including health, government and financial services, sets them apart.

"In addition, our 2021 promotions group exemplifies the character and spirit that defines MinterEllison. They work with clients in ways that create enduring relationships, and they respond to challenges with curiosity and innovation. They are inclusive leaders who embrace diversity as a vital strength. Against the backdrop of COVID-19, they have demonstrated that they can work sustainably, no matter how our ways of working have changed. They are the mentors and leaders of tomorrow."

57% of the promotions group are female, with women making up 34% of the Firm's overall Partner numbers, as at 1 July 2021.

"The gender balance of this group places us well on track to meet our 40:40:20 partnership target which aims to achieve 40% female Partners, 40% male Partners and 20% Partners of any gender by 2025. We know retaining and promoting women is essential in order for us to meet this target," said Briggs.

These eight new Partners follow the appointment of 15 Partners in January, bringing the number of Partners appointed in 2021 to 23.
