Melissa Wroe
Special Counsel, Perth
I am a strategic litigator who helps clients navigate complex civil claims across public and product liability, professional indemnity and large-scale discovery, including AI-enabled document review solutions.

I have developed deep expertise across a broad range of practice areas, including workers' compensation common law, general and professional liability, product liability, employment practices liability, property and business interruption, debt recovery and historical abuse claims.   My practice centres on complex, high-value public liability matters, indemnity and contractual disputes, multi-party litigation and large-scale discoveries including class actions.  I have a proven track record of managing sensitive and technically demanding claims across the mining, construction, transport, education, aged care and correctional sectors, consistently delivering outcomes that balance legal rigour with commercial pragmatism.

Career highlights

  • I have led eDiscovery processes across complex, large-scale litigation, including class actions and Federal Court proceedings.  I design and oversee court-compliant discovery frameworks involving voluminous and highly sensitive material, including historical abuse, claims requiring trauma-informed management of personal information and compliance with statutory confidentiality regimes.  I work closely with MinterEllison's Discovery & Forensics team to deliver cost-effective discovery solutions within agreed timeframes.
  • I advise on the design and implementation of AI-enabled document review and summarisation tools built on leading AI platforms.  This work involves leveraging artificial intelligence to review, analyse and summarise voluminous documents, often spanning over decades, including identification and tracking of amendments over time.  My role encompasses prompt design and refinement, development of output structures, collaboration with technical teams on iterative testing and workflow optimisation.
