Biography

Pattie is a Partner and Head of the firm's Greater China Employment and Human Resources practice. She is a pure employment law specialist, with over 16 years' experience in UK and Hong Kong. Currently Hong Kong admitted, Pattie is also dual qualified in England and Wales as a solicitor and a barrister.

Highly skilled in all aspects of employment law, Pattie provides the full spectrum of employment law services in Hong Kong. Her strengths include advising on immigration law, discrimination law, restraint of trade issues and complex contractual arrangements for senior staff, as well as exit strategies, and major mergers and outsourcing situations.

In Mainland China, Pattie's practice offers an advisory focus, assisting international businesses on day to day and strategic human resources and employment related issues, including advice on the PRC's new Labour Contract Law and emerging legislation; contractual arrangements including handbooks and policies; terminations; immigration law; trade union issues. The practice is well established in the mainland, with The Asia Pacific Legal 500 guide recognising the team as a top tier foreign employment law advisor in China.

Since joining Minter Ellison from Richards Butler in London, Pattie has built a high profile practice in Greater China. The Asia Pacific Legal 500 guide recognises her as a pre-eminent lawyer whose 'one of the leading names in Hong Kong' Additionally, China based media company HRoot presented Pattie with two leading awards at the Greater China Annual Human Resources Awards ceremony : 'Most Valuable Professional in Greater China', and 'Best Employment Law Service in Greater China'.

She is a regular contributor to various publications including the South China Morning Post's Know Your Rights column; Hong Kong's most popular human resources publication, HKIRM; and CCH's China Staff. Her book Hong Kong Employment Law: A practical guide was recently launched in Hong Kong, in collaboration with CCH - a leading international publisher. Pattie is a platform speaker who regularly presents on topical aspects of employment law.  She has been conducting numerous presentations on the changes introduced by China's new Labour Contract Law, and has also written extensively on the subject. Most recently, Pattie took part in TVB Pearl's Money Programme for a special feature on China business.
