MinterEllison is pleased to announce applications for the Bilya Boorn Scholarship have opened for grant in early 2026. 

The Bilya Boorn Scholarship is a joint initiative of thirteen major Western Australian commercial law firms to provide scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians to study law at a Western Australian university.  

The scholarship will provide the recipients with financial assistance of up to $10,000 per year for at least two years and ongoing opportunities for professional development and mentoring throughout the scholarship term and beyond. 

The scholarship aims to increase the representation and participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in commercial legal practice in Western Australia. 

The scholarship is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians who are enrolled or intend to enrol in an undergraduate or postgraduate law degree at a Western Australian university. The selection criteria includes financial hardship and/or personal circumstances, satisfactory academic standing, community engagement and any other relevant achievements.
