A united stand against domestic and family violence

One of the great highlights of MinterEllison's Community Investment Program is our concerted effort to reduce domestic violence in partnership with Australia’s CEO Challenge (ACEOC), a continuous association spanning over 15 years.

Australia's CEO Challenge creates business-community partnerships to ensure that women's support services are closely networked with leading Australian businesses. They are headquartered in MinterEllison's Brisbane office.

Our extensive relationship with ACEOC includes:

  • workplace training to recognise, respond and refer domestic violence
  • pro bono legal work
  • provision of office space and administrative support
  • Board participation
  • hosting events and fundraising.

Recognition for this enduring community partnership dates back to 2005 when MinterEllison and Australia's CEO Challenge received a Prime Minister's Business Community Partnership Award.

The firm is represented on their board by Special Counsel Robert Reed, who has also played the lead role in developing the annual Darkness to Daylight Challenge (a dusk to dawn run) as the major fundraising and awareness-raising event for Australia's CEO Challenge.

“Domestic violence is an issue that affects many in our community who often suffer in isolation and darkness. But there is light at the end of the tunnel with the help provided by organisations like ACEOC. The Darkness to Daylight Run carries the clear message that violence in families (or anywhere) is not okay ”
Special Counsel, Rob Reed
