MinterEllison announces Andrew Rentoul as new Chair

1 minute read  24.02.2022

MinterEllison has appointed Andrew Rentoul as Chair who succeeds David O'Brien.

The partners of MinterEllison have elected Andrew Rentoul as their new Chair of the Firm. He has a long and distinguished career in law, business and leadership and is a strong supporter of the Arts.

Mr Rentoul is well known for his work as a leading M&A lawyer, advising on major transactions in both the private and public sectors, across industries including energy and resources, utilities, transport and digital.

Outgoing Chair David O'Brien notes that: "Andrew is a respected and effective leader. I congratulate him on being elected Chair of the Firm. He is a senior practitioner who brings to the role his wide experience in the law and business and deep understanding of our Firm. It is a privilege to be elected to the role by Partners, and I wish Andrew every success".

Andrew joined MinterEllison as a partner in 2006 in the Firm's Capital Markets & Corporate practice. He has played a key role in the growth of the Firm's practice in high value and complex M&A in the infrastructure sector, leading the legal teams supporting many of Australia's most significant transactions in that sector.

Andrew has previously served as a Board member of MinterEllison. In taking over as the Firm's Chair, he relinquishes his role as Brisbane Office Managing Partner. Victoria Hepburn has been appointed as MinterEllison's new Brisbane Office Managing Partner.

"I thank David O'Brien for his lasting contribution. I am looking forward to working with my fellow board members, Virginia Briggs, our CEO and Managing Partner, and our leadership team," said Andrew. "The Firm has a clear strategy and a strong sense of purpose and values centred on our clients, our people and the community."

Andrew will combine ongoing client work with his Chair duties.
