MinterEllison confirmed today it had been assisting Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC) on the Club’s flagship redevelopment project. With a value of $2 billion+ this is a major precinct renewal and infrastructure project for the State of Victoria, with strong backing from Racing Minister Martin Pakula.

The MinterEllison role has included advising MVRC on all aspects of the project to date including due diligence and review of bidder submissions, the EOI and RFP phases through to selection and contracting of the development partner.

Ms Deluca and Mr Charlton said MinterEllison had been appointed to the project which is expected to take 15 years to complete and said that the successful development partner is a joint venture between Hostplus and Hamton.

Under the plans, construction of the first townhouse will start in 2018-19. About 2000 residential dwellings will be built, comprising townhouses and apartment buildings. The balance of the mixed-use project will consist of retail and entertainment facilities, commercial office space and community and wellbeing spaces. The racetrack infield will be used for outdoor events run by the club as well as sport and recreation.
