This week MinterEllison hosted an event in their Sydney offices to celebrate the upcoming launch of the InterBuild 'Inc-loo-sion' Report. This report is an initiative of InterBuild, the LGBTQ+ network for the property and construction sector, with contributions from both The GPT Group and MinterEllison.

The report has been developed for use as guidance material to promote public bathrooms that are inclusive of all. It is based on the results of a survey conducted in 2020, featuring over 400 respondents from across the InterBuild network, the property sector, and the LGBTQ+ community. The survey asked participants questions about their preferences for the kinds of facilities that they would feel safe using.

The event showcased the results of the survey and what that means for best practice in the Australian property industry. It featured a panel discussion with Ben Thomas (National Manager, Environment, The GPT Group), Katie Box (Senior Tenancy Delivery Manager, The GPT Group) and Ruby Ramachandran (Lawyer, MinterEllison). The panellists provided market leading examples and outlined InterBuild's next steps in developing further guidance for the property sector.

MinterEllison acting Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner, Virginia Briggs, commented: "I'm so incredibly proud and grateful of the work InterBuild does and I love that MinterEllison is able to play a role. Working alongside our clients on this project is very important to us, as it aligns with our purpose to have a positive impact in our communities."

The MinterEllison offices in both Sydney and Melbourne feature gender neutral bathrooms located on the client floors, allowing maximum visibility and access for all employees and visitors. In addition, the firm has committed to adding gender neutral bathrooms in as many of their other Australian offices as possible over the coming years.

The full InterBuild 'Inc-loo-sion' Report will be launched later in the year. In the meantime, a Fact Sheet outlining the considerations and principles of inclusive bathrooms is available to download
