My expertise covers planning and environmental law with an emphasis on development approvals. I use my extensive industry knowledge and legal experience to help a diverse range of clients achieve their commercial goals as efficiently as possible.

My work is driven by my passion for the future planning needs of Melbourne, which led to my two term membership of the Property Council of Australia’s Planning and Infill Committee. I also served for nine years (3 terms) as a legal member of the Heritage Council of Victoria.

  • Austexx Pty Ltd – seven years as in-house counsel for a property development company, gaining valuable experience as part of the executive and development team
  • Direct Factory Outlets – assisted from the initial concept to the completion of seven centres on the east coast of Australia, including conducting due diligence site investigations and addressing legal challenges in various jurisdictions involving other shopping centre owners
  • South Wharf – worked on this multi-purpose development, which combines office, hotel, retail, residential and restaurant spaces, including obtaining planning and environmental approvals
  • Woolworths Shopping Centres – advised on numerous developments including Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) applications
  • Outdoor advertising companies-obtained planning approvals for signs, including managing VCAT appeals and conducting due diligence investigations for the sale of businesses
  • Telecommunications carriers – acted in relation to infrastructure roll-outs
  • Melbourne Metro Rail Project – advised in relation to planning, heritage and environmental issues, and the approvals required for the project to proceed
  • Major road infrastructure projects – assisted the State with planning, environmental and heritage assessments, and approval issues eg arterial road projects
  • Various residential village operators – worked on regulatory, planning and environmental issues arising in relation to the development, operation and management of these businesses
  • A power station – participated in due diligence enquiries, including considering various environmental issues related to contamination and site rehabilitation
