I have significant experience in advising clients on the establishment of research centres, research funding, collaborative research and intellectual property licensing arrangements. I have undertaken numerous due diligences and audits for clients prior to the commercialisation of technology. I also have specific expertise in relation to Crown copyright, creative commons licensing and database copyright issues.
I have advised the higher education sector for over ten years on a range of commercial and regulatory matters, including compliance with university specific legislation. I also regularly advise the government and public sector agencies on major projects, procurement and research funding arrangements.
I hold an honours degree in both law and science (genetics) from the University of Melbourne and have completed a Masters of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Melbourne.
A member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Licensing Executives Society of Australia and New Zealand, the BioMelbourne Network and Ausbiotech, I have published articles and presented lectures on intellectual property issues associated with research and the intellectual property/competition law overlap.
