Applying his broad range of project delivery experience Ian has been instrumental in establishing and implementing procurement strategies for new mines including vital transport infrastructure, process and power plants, heavy mining equipment and pipelines.

Government
Highly regarded as a strategic problem solver, Ian has a comprehensive understanding of Government processes and priorities and extensive experience interfacing between governments and the private sector. Key issues Ian has assisted governments with include coordinating multiple stakeholders to deliver critical infrastructure, selecting appropriate delivery models to achieve best results and risk assessment on politically sensitive projects.
He has worked a diverse range of government projects across Australia including the Northern Territory's Strategic Indigenous Housing Infrastructure Program, the Springfield road and rail transport corridor in Queensland, the SEQ water recycled water scheme. Other projects include SEQ Busway infrastructure and Gold Coast University Hospital.

Infrastructure
As a leading construction and infrastructure specialist, Ian has been at the forefront of some of Australia's largest and geographically diverse public and private projects. His comprehensive dealings span most industries including transport (rail, roads, ports), health in particular hospitals, mines, energy and resources, water, pipelines and power stations. Noted for his skill at the front end of projects, Ian’s expertise encompasses project delivery advice, drafting contracts, structuring consortium and joint venture arrangements, and preparing collaborative contracts. Amongst his many landmark projects, Ian leads team responsible for the Abbot Point Multicargo facility, the New Parallel Runway at Brisbane Airport, and was the key advisor for the multi billion-dollar Queensland Rail Infrastructure Program, Queensland’s Western Corridor Recycled Water project and Gold Coast University Hospital.

Project Delivery
Ian is recognised as having first class strategic and technical skill in structuring collaborative contracts (Alliance and ECI models) as well as more traditional construction contracts such as EPC, EPCM and design and construct contracts. He has also drafted and negotiated many consortium and joint venture arrangements.
He has helped many clients plan, establish and deliver tailor-made selection and tender processes for project procurement. His understanding of risk management is superb. His focus is on providing innovative client focussed outcomes and he is widely acknowledge as a leading expert in relationship contracting. He has helped establish over 50 project, program and operations alliances across Australia.

Transport
Ian's practice has a particular focus on the transport sector where he has been working with clients in the road, rail, ports and airports sectors for more than 25 years. He is currently the lead advisor on the construction of the $1.5bn Port of Abbott Point Multicargo facility, QR National's $2bn Goonyella to Abbot Point rail expansion and the Port of Townsville redevelopment and Marine Precinct upgrade. Ian was also the lead lawyer for four of the Southeast Queensland Busway projects.
