Peter Wood heads the firm’s national Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Disputes team and is practice group head of the Melbourne Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Group. He is a recognised expert across all forms of dispute resolution in all Australian jurisdictions and internationally.

Peter has been involved in numerous major disputes across the construction, projects, infrastructure, energy, mining, resources, ports and government sectors. Many have involved high-stakes ‘bet the company’ disputes conducted in Australia, as well as India, South Africa, the UK and New Caledonia.

His wide experience encompasses mediation, determinative mediation or conciliation, adjudication, litigation, and both domestic and international arbitration.

Notably, Peter acted for Fluor Daniel in one of the world’s largest arbitrations concerning claims of AUD 1.5 Billion, and for PT Thiess Indonesia in US$50 million claims litigation in London and Brisbane.

He acts for both principals and contractors including Colonial First State, Degremont, Department of Defence, Fluor Daniel, Grocon, Port of Melbourne Corporation, Suez GDF, State of Victoria, Thiess and Leighton Contractors.

A lecturer at Melbourne University and speaker on diverse construction and disputes topics, he is one of only two construction lawyers in the AFR's Best Litigation lawyers list in 2010.
