Shane Evans

Shane leads MinterEllison's national health industry group.

With over 18 years' experience acting exclusively for clients in the health industry, Shane has an in-depth understanding of all aspects of health service delivery, operations and regulation in the public and private health sectors. This expertise allows MinterEllison to deliver a co-ordinated full service health industry practice, encompassing advisory, transactional, commercial and litigation.

Shane works with our leading transactional, corporate and commercial lawyers to deliver practical, industry specific and client focussed advice and outcomes for our health industry clients. This encompasses commercial advice; due diligence, regulatory and operational advice for sales, acquisitions and health projects; provision of on-site health services; negotiation, review and drafting of health service, funding, research and appointment agreements; private health insurance and funding arrangements; and privacy obligations.

Shane is often called upon to manage significant reputational matters for our health clients, working closely in partnership with the client and other advisors to achieve the most favourable outcome for our client and the relevant stakeholders. Shane's risk management expertise extends to early intervention following clinical incidents, as well as service reviews in order to assist with improvements in safety and quality.

His clients include Health Departments, public and private hospitals, health care practitioners, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, device manufacturers, research organisations, universities, service providers such as radiology, pathology, as well as investors.

Shane is consistently recognised in peer guides as a leading advisor in health and aged care, medical negligence, and insurance. Best Lawyers International also named him Lawyer of the Year (Australia), Health & Aged Care - Best Lawyers: 2014.
