Minter Ellison has been working with clients in China since the 1980s, when we were one of the first foreign firms to have a presence there.
Our Shanghai office has been operating since 2001. The team on the ground includes lawyers qualified in the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Australia and England & Wales. With several native Chinese speakers in the team, we work in English or Chinese as the transaction requires. Through a strong combination of local knowledge and international expertise, our lawyers have built a substantial track record of negotiating successful deals in China.
The Shanghai team works closely with lawyers in our Hong Kong and other offices and, as necessary, draws on the specialist resources there to meet clients' specific needs. They offer particular expertise in corporate/commercial law (advising investors looking to invest into and out of the PRC); and in major projects and resources, a sector where their experience includes a number of firsts.
