Biography
Lloyd heads the firm's Real Estate practice. He is one of the most experienced and versatile real estate lawyers in Australia. His versatility stems from beginning his career as a financial analyst for a development bank in Auckland, before joining one of New Zealand's leading law firms, Russell McVeagh McKenzie Bartleet & Co. At Russell McVeagh, he advised on M&A, corporate structuring and financing.
Lloyd crossed the Tasman and joined the firm's Corporate team in Brisbane in 1981 - just in time to take advantage of the massive corporate activity of the 1980s. Lloyd established the firm's original Gold Coast office and during his Queensland years played a leading role advising on diverse projects including the Sheraton Mirage Resorts at Port Douglas and Surfers Paradise, the Royal Pines Resort at Ashmore, Surfers Paradise, the Yulara Resort in the Northern Territory and the Gateway Toll Bridge Project in Queensland, then the world's largest box girder bridge. In addition to his tourism, leisure and infrastructure projects he advised on the reorganisation of the cement industry in Queensland, the McDonnell & East takeover and Carlton and United Breweries hotel reorganisation in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Relocating to Melbourne in 1994, Lloyd quickly established a loyal client following and counts Port of Melbourne Corporation, Melbourne City Council's Projects Group, Asian Development Bank, SingTel Optus, Sunland, Victorian Rail Track Corporation (VicTrack) and VicUrban among the organisations with whom he works most closely. He advises on landmark projects in Victoria, most notably the A$7 billion Melbourne Docklands development. A range of recent projects on which Lloyd has been involved is included in the track records to the right.
