Biography
Ian has been providing legal services to construction projects across Australia for more than 20 years.
In addition to working at the 'front end' of projects, he assists clients to manage the resolution of disputes and contract administration issues.
He is an acknowledged leader in the field of alliance contracting, having assisted in the establishment of project and strategic alliances for public and resources infrastructure developments, involving the North Queensland Gas Pipeline, Wivenhoe Dam, Burnett River Dam, Comalco's Alumina Refinery and Anglo's Dawson Project.
Recent projects on which Ian has advised include:
- establishing the SEQIPP Rail $750m program alliance
- documenting the $350m Inner Northern Busway alliance
- participating in successful bid teams for Tugun Bypass and Bauhinia Regional Rail Line
- designing and implementing innovative dispute resolution processes for large disputes on Tarong North, Pacific Motorway and Darwin Port projects.
Other projects on which he has played a leading role in contract documentation or dispute resolution include the Docklands Stadium, the Eastern Gas Pipeline, the Pacific Motorway, the Bauhinia and Hail Creek Regional Rail Links, Riparian Plaza and Suncorp Stadium.
Ian is a regular presenter at seminars and has published the following:

- Alliancing - The Legal Framework, presented to IQPS Conference (March 2004)

Ian is a member of the Infrastructure Association of Queensland, the Institute of Arbitrators Australia, Australasian Alliance Association and the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation.
