Biography
Richard is a Partner in our Corporate group. He brings to Minter Ellison over 15 years of corporate experience, gained in private legal practice, as a General Counsel of two leading Australasian companies (Coles Group and Telecom New Zealand) and as an executive responsible for major infrastructure and businesses in the telecommunications sector.
In the past decade, Richard has worked for, or advised, Telstra Corporation, Telecom Corporation of New Zealand, SingTel Optus, AAPT, Personal Broadband Australia/iBurst, Telecom Italia and other national and international industry players on a range of commercial, competition law and regulatory issues.
He also advises a range of non-communications industry clients on commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, competition law, outsourcing, major supply arrangements and disputes with regulators. He is frequently called upon to lead negotiations given his extensive commercial and deal experience.
Richard joined Minter Ellison from Coles Group Limited, Australia's largest retailer where he acted as project leader for two landmark transactions, the sale of Myer to TPG Capital for $1.4 Billion and the sale of Coles Group to Wesfarmers for $20.7 Billion.
He is also involved in a range of not-for-profit activities, including national chairman of the Cambridge Australia Trust, Leadership Victoria, and Indigenous Leadership Network Victoria.
