Biography

Mitzi is a partner in the Competition and Regulation group. She specialises in advising utilities, government and technology businesses. Her principal areas of practice are utilities regulation, competition law, acquisitions and projects, government, public transport, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and information technology.

Mitzi advises on electricity, gas, telecommunications and water regulation, and regularly leads due diligence teams for acquisitions or sales in the energy sector. She also advises on Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) clearance and other dealings with regulators. In addition, she drafts and negotiates major contracts for clients in the energy, public transport, telecommunications and technology sectors. 

She has experience acting for government and private sector clients on public private partnerships (PPPs) and similar arrangements in energy, telecommunications and transport. Mitzi has also advised clients on new renewable energy projects. Her experience in the technology and higher education sectors includes the full range of IT contracts, research and development contracts, including in biotech and pharmaceuticals, technology transfer and commercialisation, tendering processes and general commercial advice.

Mitzi's
clients have included ANZ Infrastructure Services, AGL, Basslink Development Board, Computershare, Duke Energy (now Alinta), GasNet Australia, Pacific Hydro, Singtel Optus, Singapore Power, SPI PowerNet, University of Melbourne, Yallourn Energy, Yarra Trams and the Victorian Government.

She is also a member of the firm's pro bono team. She regularly advises pro bono clients at one of the homeless persons legal clinics staffed by the firm and operated in conjunction with the Public Interest Law Clearing House.

She has presented various conference papers and lectures on legal issues in energy and biotechnology.
 

Mitzi is admitted to practice in Victoria and England. She is a member of the
Law Society of England & Wales and Victorian Women Lawyers Association.
