Biography
Kent's broadly based practice includes advising on corporate and business law, and mining, oil and gas law, as well as privacy, e-commerce and technology.
On the corporate and business front, he advises on capital raisings, stock exchange compliance, due diligence, and commercial and business transactions, as well as corporate restructures, and board and shareholder meeting procedures. He is an expert on corporate governance, advising on directors' duties and corporate governance issues, the Corporations Act, and compliance with ASX Corporate Governance Council's Principles of Good Corporate Governance & Best Practice Recommendations, as well as compliance and risk management under the Australian standards on corporate governance.
His e-commerce and technology practice includes advising on internet use and regulation, websites, email and spam issues and privacy considerations.
His mining and petroleum practice includes advising on:
- petroleum exploration and production
- joint ventures, farm-in/farm-out arrangements, resource field unitisations, coordination arrangements and other partnering arrangements
- native title and Aboriginal culture and heritage issues
- commercial resources, supply, production and operating agreements.
Kent's professional memberships include Australian Corporate Lawyers Association, Australian Mining Petroleum Law Association (Vice-President, SA Branch Committee, 2004), the Law Society of South Australia and the Securities Institute of Australia.
