Biography
Rhys is the national head of Minter Ellison's tax division.
He specialises in Australia's goods and services tax (GST) and assists a number of Australia's largest corporates, particularly in the telecommunications, property, funds management, aged care and financial services sectors. In addition Rhys has assisted a number of Commonwealth and state government entities deal with the impact of GST on their activities.
He regularly assists clients dealing with revenue authorities during audits, disputes and obtaining binding rulings. He has also represented clients before the Federal and Full Federal court.
Rhys has presented numerous seminars on GST and often appears in the print media to comment on significant developments in the GST law. He is a member of the GST Subcommittee of the Property Council of Australia, a member of the NSW Planning and Tax Committee of the Urban Development Institute of Australia, and is a former member of the New South Wales Law Society GST Committee.
