During her 30 years in practice, she has developed a diverse range of skills and significant experience in insurance claims and policy advisings (financial and retail lines), product liability issues and claims, class actions and corporate risk and litigation.
Insurance is a feature of Pamela's practice. She is one of the firm's most experienced insurance lawyers having worked with the insurance industry throughout her whole career. She is consistently recognised as one of Australia's leading insurance lawyers by national and international legal guides as well as the insurance industry. Most recently, Pamela was named in The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers 2006, the International Who's Who of Insurance & Reinsurance Lawyers and Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers. She is recognised by the APL500 rankings (2007) as a recommended individual for Dispute Resolution and Insurance and is noted as a leading individual in Chambers Global 2007.
Pamela was a Ministerial appointment to the Australian Government's Comcover Advisory Council and has been recognised by the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) with life membership for her services to the association and the industry. She was awarded the prestigious 2005 AILA Law Prize, recognising her significant contribution to the insurance industry and insurance law. She is a President of the NSW Branch Executive Committee of ANZIIF, Chair of the Institute's President's Council and a Director of ANZIIF. Pamela is the NSW executive member of NPLA and former National President of AILA. She is responsible for developing Minter Ellison's Insurance Contracts Handbook: an annotated reference of the legislation affecting Australian insurance contracts (now in its sixth edition).
In addition to her insurance practice, Pamela has significant experience in complex commercial litigation for clients across diverse industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and energy.
The higher education sector is another of Pamela's areas of focus and interest. For many years, she has worked with universities in New South Wales advising on diverse issues such as governance, funding, enabling legislation, other legislation relevant to the sector (e.g. the Administrative Decisions Tribunal, Freedom Of Information, Independent Commission Against Corruption and Ombudsman's Acts), student matters (disciplinary and discrimination) and administrative law issues generally. She is Secretary of AIAL (NSW Chapter) and a member of IPAA.
