Biography
Garth leads our Indonesia practice. Based in Jakarta, he works with our alliance firm Makarim & Taira S., providing specialist and strategic advice on corporate, commercial, infrastructure and construction issues associated with large projects. He is experienced in legal risk analysis and advising on different methods of project delivery including SPVs and joint ventures, project alliances and project financing.
His corporate advisory experience includes company formation and governance issues, mergers and acquisitions, complex share transactions, Schemes of Arrangement, IPOs and restructuring.
He advises government, operators and proponents in commercial aspects of mining, infrastructure and resource projects, and drafting appropriate documentation.
Garth has worked as a lawyer in South Korea with exposure to legal/trade issues in the Pacific Rim. In this capacity, Garth advised some of the largest corporations in the world including Hyundai Heavy, Tyco, TimeWarner, Wal Mart and Scania. He has also worked for a range of Korean companies with business interests in Australia. He is very familiar with the issues surrounding setting up new business in Asia, including labour law and corporate governance.
Garth has also acted for a large number of Australian government-owned utilities and Commonwealth and State Departments, providing strategic advice in key operational areas, particularly in relation to accountability, large-scale procurement and defence materiel acquisition.
