Biography
Richard is a member of the firm's corporate group, practising principally in the competition law field. He provides trade practices advice and handles trade practices-related litigation and investigations. Richard has led the Minter Ellison litigation team on a number of significant and complex cases. He has also participated in competition reviews of statutory bodies that administer compensation or insurance schemes, and regularly prepares submissions to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) on competition issues, including anti-competitive conduct and mergers and acquisitions.
Richard is the former head of our Insurance group in Melbourne and former director of the firm’s national Insurance group.
In his insurance matters, Richard has advised the compulsory insurer of solicitors in Victoria, the Legal Practitioners Committee, and other public and private sector clients extensively in the areas of wordings, structuring of insurance arrangements, fraud and misconduct investigations and regulatory and legal aspects of professional indemnity and directors and officers liability schemes and professional negligence.
Richard is a member of Law Institute of Victoria, the Australian Insurance Law Association and the Trade Practices Committee of the Law Council of Australia (Business Law Section). Richard was recently recognised in the Best Lawyers: Australia (2010) as one of the country's leading litigation lawyers.
