Biography
James heads our mergers and acquisitions group in Sydney. He has advised on transactions valued at over $100billion, including recommended and hostile takeover bids, schemes of arrangement, P2Ps, redomiciles and privatisation acquisitions.
He has also project managed and advised on the IPOs of many companies, and secondary equity raisings including using Jumbo and RAPIDs structures. He has devised or advised on a number of cross border, joint venture and unincorporated structures, as well as incorporated structures.
He is the author and updater of Takeovers – Australian Corporation Practice, a Butterworths loose leaf service, and a member of the Adjunct Faculty in Corporate Law, University of Sydney, where he teaches Corporate Fundraising on disclosure standard and due diligence. Which Lawyer (formerly Global Counsel 3000) lists Minter Ellison as 'highly recommended' for M&A and James is noted as a 'recommended individual', and the Asia Pacific Legal 500 lists James as a 'leading individual' in M&A in Australia.
