Biography
Mark has over 25 years' experience in commercial and financial services sector transactions and is the leader of the firm's Financial Services Industry Group and corporate governance practice.
Mark has developed a strong practice advising on Corporations Act and Listing Rule compliance, mergers and acquisitions, demutualisations, corporate governance issues (including directors' and officers' duties and the law of meetings), and insurance industry restructuring. He also advises government agencies and government owned corporations on restructuring, statutory interpretation, legislative drafting and regulatory and governance issues.
He is co-author of titles on Partnerships and Joint Ventures in Halsbury's Laws of Australia and the Joint Venture section of the Australian Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents. Mark has specialist knowledge of the relationship between the Life Insurance Act and the duties of directors, and regularly lectures on corporate law reform, especially in relation to corporate governance and directors' and officers' duties.
Mark is a member of the Law Council of Australia - Corporations Committee.
