Biography
John has conducted major dispute mediations, neutral evaluations, multi-jurisdictional commercial litigation and arbitrations in Australia, the US, Ireland and the UK. John has a managed approach to dispute resolution through strategic assessment of all matters relevant to a dispute.
John regularly advises government on the strategy for handling and resolving major commercial disputes and has extensive experience in dispute resolution. He has twice been seconded from Canberra to Minter Ellison Melbourne, advising both public and private sector clients on major disputes.
John recently ran a major Trade Practices claim before the Federal Court and the High Court for a Commonwealth agency. He has also recently advised a public sector client on settlement of claims totalling A$4.7 billion against it. John has specialist expertise in the resolution of disputes in the Defence, Health, Transport, Financial Services and Government industry sectors.
John is the Managing Partner of the firm's Canberra office and the Leader of the firm's National Government Industry Group.
