With the 2021 Edition of Best Lawyers in Australia released this week, MinterEllison has been named Law Firm of the Year for expertise in Information Technology Law and Tax Law.

The firm highlighted the standing of Best Lawyers as the oldest and most respected peer review publication in the legal profession. Recognition in the publication is widely regarded by clients and legal professionals as a significant honour.

This year, MinterEllison has had 240 lawyers recognised as Best Lawyers, up 14% on the 2020 number when 210 of the firm’s lawyers were recognised.

New listings

The firm has also received a significant number of new listings with 37 MinterEllison lawyers recognised for the first time in their particular practice areas. This was also up on the 27 lawyers listed in 2020, with ten lawyers added to the list for 2021.

Lawyer of the year

Twenty individuals have also been recognised as a Lawyer of the Year for 2021, another significant increase. This is a category recognising individuals with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area. Last year, 16 individuals were recognised.

Top five practice areas

In particular, Best Lawyers recognised MinterEllison's litigation, real property law, government practice, alternative dispute resolution and corporate law as top areas. This was based on the number of individual lawyers who received recognition.
