MinterEllison advises BPP on Australian education acquisition

MinterEllison has advised private equity investor TDR Capital, and its portfolio company BPP Holdings Limited (BPP), a leading global education business and one of the largest privately owned education providers in Europe, in connection with its acquisition of the Australian Institute of Business (AIB).

AIB is one of the largest online MBA providers in Australia, with over 2,000 students enrolled, and boasts a global alumni network of more than 20,000 across 100 countries. 

The acquisition represents a significant milestone in BPP's strategic growth journey, supported by TDR Capital, with a focus on geographic expansion and product innovation. BPP's support will allow AIB to further invest in its digital capabilities, enhancing its online delivery and expand its portfolio through new technologies to enable further international growth.

This deal involved the collaborative effort and combined expertise of MinterEllison's specialist Education sector practice, spanning both full Legal and Regulatory advice.  

The cross-disciplinary MinterEllison team was led by M&A Partner Nick Kipriotis and Education Consulting Partner Michael Wells, together with a team of Education sector specialists including Elizabeth Moran (Senior Associate, Corporate M&A) and Andrew Reid (Senior Associate, Education Consulting), Tom Fletcher (Partner, Education Legal & Regulatory) and Kylie Diwell (Partner, Education Legal & Regulatory).
