MinterEllison Queer Hub: Building capability across the LGBTQ+ community

3 minute read  05.06.2026

MinterEllison is proud to strengthen its commitment to inclusion through the MinterEllison Queer Hub, a national pro bono initiative connecting LGBTQ+ organisations, social enterprises and community legal centres with skilled volunteers across the firm. The Hub brings together legal and non-legal expertise to deliver practical, respectful support that helps organisations grow their capability and create lasting impact in the communities they serve.

Developed in consultation with community partners and internal teams, the MinterEllison Queer Hub is designed to respond to real, everyday needs. It creates a dedicated platform where LGBTQ+ identifying employees and trained allies work together to provide tailored support across a broad range of areas. By grounding the design in lived experience and community insight, the Hub ensures support is relevant, accessible and meaningful - recognising that every organisation’s needs are different.

Through the Hub, organisations can access a diverse range of services delivered by skilled volunteers across the firm. The Hub provides practical advice tailored to the needs of LGBTQ+ community organisations. This includes support across employment, commercial contracting, privacy, corporate governance and tax registrations, helping organisations navigate complexity with confidence. Volunteers also contribute expertise across strategic planning, communications and marketing, board development, process improvement and coaching. This support helps organisations strengthen their foundations, improve sustainability and plan for long-term impact.

The Queer Hub builds on MinterEllison’s established pro bono and community investment programme, creating new pathways for meaningful and measurable impact across the LGBTQ+ sector. It also provides opportunities for our people to contribute their skills in ways that are practical, inclusive and aligned to shared values of fairness, care and respect.

Supporting inclusion in action

The MinterEllison Queer Hub reflects the ongoing work of our PRIME (Pride, Respect and Inclusion at MinterEllison) network to create positive change for our people, clients and community.

The Queer Hub was recognised as MinterEllison’s Platinum Project at the 2026 Australian LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards, as part of our submission to the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI). This recognition reflects our continued commitment to inclusion and to strengthening capability both within community organisations and across our firm. The AWEI enables organisations to assess and benchmark their policies, practices and culture in relation to LGBTQ+ inclusion. Platinum Tier status is awarded to organisations that consistently achieve leading benchmark results, underscoring the sustained and practical actions taken to build inclusive workplaces.

We know that meaningful inclusion is built through consistent, practical action. The Queer Hub is one way we are working together to create a future where everyone is supported, valued and empowered to thrive.
