Launched in 2016, MinterEllison’s Empower Program is a strategic initiative focused on our vision to be recognised as the firm that provides innovative solutions driven by an agile and high performance culture. The program encourages our people to explore how they can enhance client relationships and outcomes by making different choices about how and where they work. This approach allows us to combine the concept of flexibility with a commercial focus. The Empower Program ensures innovation is embedded in mindset, behaviour and activity across the firm.
The Program has developed a number of growth opportunities within our practice areas by encouraging staff to deepen their understanding of the challenges facing our clients. Since the introduction of the Program, feedback received via our internal survey - which was conducted earlier this year - showed that as a firm, we have gained a greater understanding of our people, their professional needs and aspirations. Results indicate that staff are thinking differently about the way they work and approach client relationships, embrace innovation to challenge the status quo of how things are done, and welcome the opportunity to engage in agile workplaces. In addition to benefiting the culture within the firm, it has shown to foster stronger client relationships.
Notably, during the past year, the firm received industry recognition for the Empower Program as Winner of the Best Learning & Development Program at the 2018 Australian HR Awards, where the Empower Program was highlighted as a key element of our broader firm-wide learning and development offering, and as the winner in the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards Asia-Pacific 2017 for Innovation in Strategy & Changing Behaviours.
