Helping you protect, commercialise and manage your IP rights

IP transactions

When negotiating an intellectual property (IP) transaction, core considerations involve ensuring that relevant IP assets are both protected and monetised. This not only facilitates growth and collaboration, but provides a safety net, so if things don't proceed as expected, valuable IP rights are retained and can be enforced.

We have a deep understanding of issues relating to the ownership and protection of IP rights. Whether it's a standalone sale, licensing, distribution, reseller or other transaction involving an IP asset, or advice on the IP components of a transaction, we provide commercially pragmatic support throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Agreements regarding research funding, projects and collaborative research are often the starting point for the development of IP. We regularly advise universities, research institutes, private sector organisations and Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs) on IP-related agreements. Once protected, commercialisation may proceed through many different types of structures. Our team is experienced in working with clients to advise on the most appropriate structures in order to optimise value.

We have advised numerous universities, consortia and other organisations, in Australia and internationally, on the development of IP policies, the implementation of commercialisation strategies, and the management and enforcement of IP rights.
