How we can help

The range of services we provide to clients include:

How to close a power station and leave a positive legacy

More thermal power stations are approaching end-of-life. Communities are looking to station owners and government to be good stewards in the closure process, from the safe dismantling of the station, remediation and repurposing of the site to supporting the regions.

It requires meticulous planning and continuous community consultation and engagement. MinterEllison advised on the first fully-completed, successful closure and demolition of an Australian coal-fired power station for the Flinders Power group (Alinta Energy). Neil Gordon shares his insights in Closing a coal-fired power station

Throughout the program, we delivered legal advice with a lens on timeliness, responsiveness, safety, cost and compliance.”
Neil Gordon, MinterEllison Project Lead.
