Jennifer McVeigh

Jennifer McVeigh's expertise is in strategic thinking – applied to resolution of construction disputes, infrastructure and mining sector procurement contracts and project delivery.

A qualified mediator and arbitrator, Jennifer has 30 years’ experience in the construction industry including four years as the full time member of the Queensland Building Tribunal.

Across her disputes, contract, tender and project practice, she has a well-earned reputation for her holistic strategic thinking and risk identification expertise, developing tailored legal and commercial solutions to create value and reduce risk.

Jennifer’s expertise includes all forms of dispute resolution, security of payment issues and drafting, negotiating and advising on construction, mining and engineering contracts.

Jennifer is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a regular speaker and lecturer on dispute and risk management, dispute avoidance and contract matters.

Dawson and Lake Lindsay projects

Advised on the expansion of Anglo American's Dawson and Lake Lindsay projects involved capital expenditure in excess of $1b and required a contracting strategy that would ensure the procurement of coal preparation plants, long conveyors, crushing plants, and associated building and civil infrastructure. We helped Anglo establish several alliances, several EPCM contracts and a multitude of equipment and services procurement contracts.

Development of a suite of procurement contracts

Assisted Peabody Energy Australia with development of a suite of procurement contracts (including construction contracts) for use across multiple mine sites in Queensland and New South Wales. We currently assisting Peabody in the negotiation of deals based on those templates, with those deals ranging in complexity and value from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of millions of dollars.
