Stewart specialises in drafting and negotiating complex engineering and infrastructure agreements for the transport and logistics, manufacturing, metals and mining, energy and government sectors. He has a particular focus on long term O&M contracts and Energy Performance Contracting.

Stewart drafts amendments to PC1, FIDIC, AS4300, AS4902 and drafts purpose-drawn contracts for principals, banks and contractors including the Department of Infrastructure, Command Energy, Pasminco, Newcrest, Yarra Trams, SPI PowerNet, Berri, Deutsche Asset Management, Austexx and the Hong Kong Government.

Economic Infrastructure
Stewart has advised on some of Australia's largest and most important economic infrastructure projects including CityLink, Peninsula Link, the North-South Bypass Tunnel in QLD and acted as lead construction partner for Minter Ellison in its role acting for the State of Victoria in the $2 billion Eastlink project (formerly known as the Scoresby Mitcham Frankston Freeway Project).

As one of Australia's most prominent construction lawyers, Stewart has acted for sponsors, construction contractors and government on some of Australia's largest infrastructure projects. He has a particular interest in the whole of life implications for infrastructure projects and has extensive experience in drafting contracts for the tender, design, construction and maintenance of a range of infrastructure developments.

Public Private Partnerships
Stewart is recognised as one of Australia's leading specialists in the delivery of PPP projects. He has acted on more than 30 closed or current PPPs including acting for state governments in relation to the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre PPP, the Ararat Prison PPP, the SA Schools PPP, and the Royal Adelaide Hospital PPP; acting as lead partner for a contractor bidding as part of the successful consortium for the new Orange Base Hospital PPP Project; and advising consortia on bids for the NSW Rolling Stock PPP Project with RailCorp, the Queensland Rail Locomotive Upgrade, Sydney Metro CBD PPP, and Gold Coast Rapid Transit PPP.
Stewart has a thorough knowledge of the challenges, risks and rewards associated with any major PPP and is well regarded for his knowledge, efficiency, pragmatism and dedication under demanding conditions.

Social Infrastructure
Stewart has extensive experience in the development of social infrastructure having advised on the delivery of some of Australia's largest hospitals, schools and prisons. His experience includes acting on seven hospital PPPs in Australia.

Transport
Stewart's practice has a particular focus on the transport sector where he has worked with clients on a number of major transport projects. He advised TransLink in Queensland on the Contestable Buses Project and was lead partner acting for the State of Victoria in its $5.2 billion refranchising of the metropolitan bus contracting market and recently acted for the Northern Territory (DPI) on the Government's renegotiation of next generation bus services throughout the Territory. Stewart has also acted on multiple rail rolling stock procurements, as well as acting for bidding consortia on both the Sydney Metro and Gold Coast Rapid Transit PPP projects.
