MinterEllison's employment team has a well deserved reputation as a market leader in the provision of training. We work hard to ensure that, whatever the topic, our training is engaging, interactive and practical.
Our offering is twofold. First, we offer training that is tailored specifically for a client’s needs incorporating their policies and procedures. This training is usually presented at the client’s premises, often in partnership with the client. Secondly, we also offer training workshops as part of our highly regarded GuideME program. GuideME provides training on a number of topics, is open for all persons to attend and held at MinterEllison’s offices.
We recognize that the participant’s time is precious. It is important for participants to get as much from the session as possible. While the right content is obviously an important part of this, the way the session is delivered is the key. Participants must feel engaged.
For this reason, we ensure that our training is delivered in an informal and interactive manner; and is interesting – it includes ‘everyday real life situations’, ‘war stories’ as well as references to relevant court decisions. We present complex developments in employment law and human resources practices in an uncomplicated way, focusing particularly on the practical consequences for our clients.
Our team has developed a number of training modules on employment law topics which it continues to update and refresh. The modules include: performance management (for managers), appropriate workplace behaviour – discrimination, harassment and bullying (different sessions for employees and managers) and employment law for people managers.
For specific training, we find that clients generally request some tailoring to the module to ensure it is relevant to their organisation. This may include, for example, incorporating the employer’s policies and systems in the training materials.
Our GuideME program is also constantly changing and includes courses such as Investigating Workplace Grievances (for HR) and OH&S Harmonisation. We also tailor our GuideME workshops for specific clients or create new modules depending on our clients’ requirements.
