Temporary Visa Holders travelling to Australia: Guide for fully vaccinated international arrivals aged 18 and over from 21 February 2022

The below information is guide for international arrivals to Australia aged 18 and over who are fully vaccinated. Different rules apply to children and people who are not fully vaccinated or medically exempt.

 1. Flying to Australia

Following the recent announcement by the Prime Minister, Australia's international borders are now open.

Visa holders who are double vaccinated, may now enter Australia without the need for a travel exemption.

This includes visas for family members, sponsored employees and visitors to Australia.

2. What else do I need to consider when travelling to Australia?

COVID-19

  • A negative COVID-19 test (PCR or NAAT) is required within 72 hours of departure, or
  • a medical certificate confirming a negative result from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), completed within 24 hours of departure

Fully vaccinated

  • Complete dosage of a vaccine approved or recognised by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)

Digital Passenger Declaration (replacing the Australian Travel Declaration)

  • Complete within 72 hours of departure

Foreign vaccination certificate

  • Obtain an International COVID-19 vaccination certificate (ICVC). An ICVC is preferred, but if you do not have one, you will need to present a foreign vaccination certificate. Information about these certificates can be found here:

Each state/territory in Australia determines their own rules around entry and quarantine.

We recommend that you check the website of the state or territory you wish to directly arrive in, to determine whether you can enter the state or territory.
