MinterEllison is proud to announce that Tammy Berghofer, who is recognised for her retirement village and commercial property expertise, has joined the firm as a Special Counsel.

Prior to MinterEllison, Ms Berghofer was a Partner in HopgoodGanim's commercial property team, where she rose from law graduate to Partner in the space of 10 years.

Based in Brisbane, Ms Berghofer brings more than a decade of real estate expertise to the firm. She is recognised by her peers as a commercially minded legal practitioner and a "go to" person for retirement village and commercial property transactions, most recently acting for Aura Holdings in the acquisition and operation of its Queensland retirement village sites.

Ms Berghofer said she was attracted to MinterEllison by its nationally recognised retirement village practice and depth of expertise, with the opportunity to work with and learn from the best of the best in the industry.

"Tammy will bolster our market leading national practice in the retirement sector," said Robin Lyons, leader of MinterEllison's Brisbane Property Group and national retirement villages practice. "She is top Partner talent, as demonstrated by her time at HopgoodGanim, and joining MinterEllison as a Special Counsel is recognition of our leading national practice."

"There is a lot of pressure on the retirement sector with our aging population, and we are bolstering our capabilities to cater for the increasing need for services and accommodation."

"Tammy's experience and skill set are well aligned to the different workstreams in MinterEllison's Brisbane Property Group as well as our national Infrastructure, Construction and Property team," said Mr Lyons.

Ms Berghofer has practiced in a broad range of commercial property transactions, advising clients on complex acquisitions, disposals and leasing of retail, commercial, rural, tourism and leisure and industrial properties. She is also on the National Board for the Urban Development Institute of Australia's EnviroDevelopment program.
