I am highly experienced in all facets of property law with over a decade of experience in the area. I have particular expertise in identifying risks and other relevant issues to optimise the outcome for clients.

My passion for the real estate industry is highlighted by my dealing with clients and industry stakeholders. I enjoy working for a diverse client base on various kinds of interesting and bespoke transactions involving novel legal issues. I pride myself on applying a commercial lens to transactions and providing solutions to ensure deals are completed while also ensuring my client's risk position is adequately catered for.

Throughout my career, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of property law successfully handling acquisitions, sales, divestments, leasing, development, and construction agreements.

While my recent focus has been on the renewables sector having been fortunate to act on some of the most significant renewable projects in Australia, my expertise covers all asset classes across commercial, industrial, retail, mixed use and alternative assets.

I have been trusted with some of Australia’s largest real estate transactions and compliment my service offering by having significant expertise advising developers on project delivery and development agreements, joint ventures, structuring, subdivision and off the plan contracts. Given my considerable experience leading teams in international law firms/professional services firms; I enjoy in particular assisting international investors new to the local market and who are unsure of Australia's complex investment regime and requirements.

Career highlights

  • Acting for a national wind farm operator in relation to their acquisition of various sites and negotiating related suite of documents (such as lease/purchase options, leases, connection agreements, battery storage agreements etc).
  • Advising on all aspects of the largest potential sale of a windfarm portfolio including undertaking extensive vendor due diligence enquires and preparing associated suite of sale documents (deal value $5 billion).
  • Various local councils – providing specialist advice to various local government entities in relation to significant projects such as the Commonwealth Games Village.
  • Sydney Metro – assisting the NSW government in extending the Metro North West Line to include the Sydney Metro City and Southwest project.
  • Major global sovereign wealth fund – Preparing, negotiating and finalising portfolio acquisition agreements in relation to marque transactions and navigating various regulatory issues (including FIRB).
  • Oxford Properties Group (Oxford)- advising on Oxford’s acquisition of 100 per cent of the units in Investa Office Fund. This was the largest property transaction in Australia at the relevant time (deal value was approx. $3.5 billion).
  • China Investment Corporation's (CIC)- advising on CIC’s acquisition of Investa Property Group's office tower portfolio. This was the largest property transaction in Australia at the relevant time (deal value was approx. $2 billion).
  • Gulf Coast Station- advising on all aspects of the sale of the largest contiguous cattle station in Australia.
  • Large global agricultural chemical company – advising on all aspects of various long term ground leases and in particular negotiating critical remediation obligations with respect to various sites.
  • Large residential developer – providing advice to the largest national residential developer in relation to all aspects of their developments (including site acquisitions and associated title structuring and sales documentation).
