Robert Watson is a government procurement specialist with extensive experience in complex acquisitions and IT intensive assets.
As an advisor and contract negotiator, Robert works with Commonwealth and State Governments at all levels on procurement strategies, tender and contract development, intellectual property rights, legal risk management, performance management, probity and compliance.
Robert also provides strategic advice on defective performance and contract management.
He has a strong and long-standing relationship with the Department of Defence, working on some of Defence’s largest and most significant long-term acquisitions.
Robert draws upon 20 years’ experience as a government advisor, including six years spent in the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department prior to commencing private practice.
He also lectures at the Australian Defence Force Academy on "Risk In Contracting”.

Robert has considerable expertise in this area, lecturing on risk contracting and procurement at the Australian Defence Force Academy.
Robert advises clients on a wide range of complex and sensitive commercial contracting, tendering and procurement matters. His work includes reviewing and drafting major procurement documentation, and negotiating contracts. Robert forges close relationships with his major procurement clients, often working as a team member inside their premises.
Robert has a career-long relationship with Government, working in Government or in advisory roles for around 20 years. He specialises in legal, commercial and probity advice on procurements for government departments and agencies. His expertise includes procurement strategies, tender and contract development, intellectual property rights, legal risk management, performance management, probity and legal risk management, policy compliance, contract negotiations, and strategic advice on defective performance and contract management.
Robert has a particularly strong working relationship with the Department of Defence, specialising in major communications and equipment projects. He has been involved in numerous significant matters including some of Defence’s largest long-term acquisitions. His practice encompasses both Canberra and Melbourne.
