Robert Watson is a government procurement specialist with extensive experience in complex acquisitions and IT intensive assets.
As an advisor and contract negotiator, Robert works with Commonwealth and State Governments at all levels on procurement strategies, tender and contract development, intellectual property rights, legal risk management, performance management, probity and compliance.
Robert also provides strategic advice on defective performance and contract management.
He has a strong and long-standing relationship with the Department of Defence, working on some of Defence’s largest and most significant long-term acquisitions.
Robert draws upon 20 years’ experience as a government advisor, including six years spent in the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department prior to commencing private practice.
He also lectures at the Australian Defence Force Academy on "Risk In Contracting”.

His expertise includes procurement strategies, tender and contract development, intellectual property rights, legal risk management, performance management, probity and legal risk management, policy compliance, contract negotiations, and strategic advice on defective performance and contract management.
Robert has a particularly strong working relationship with the Department of Defence, specialising in major communications and equipment projects. He has been involved in numerous significant matters including some of Defence’s largest long-term acquisitions. His practice encompasses both Canberra and Melbourne.
